Getting started
STRAT Scanner is built for traders who use The STRAT and want a clean workflow built around Context and Confirmation. Context (also called Opportunity) represents pre-trigger structure. Confirmation begins only after a trigger occurs and is tracked through its lifecycle states.
Core terminology
Context = Opportunity (pre-trigger). It surfaces potential structure before a trigger. Forming means the sequence is still developing. Pending means the current candle is the trigger candidate and the structure can confirm.
The candle number depends on the pattern. In simple families like 2-1-x or 1-1-x, Forming and Pending often map to the 2nd and 3rd candle. Shorter or Longer sequences such as Failed-2, Randy Jackson, and (Momo) Hammer/Shooter use Forming or Pending to reflect where the scanner is in that shorter orlonger sequence.
Confirmation = triggered setup (post-trigger). Confirmations are tracked, not recommendations to act, and move through Active, Expired, or Invalidated states.
Create your account
New accounts start on the Free tier. You can upgrade later if you need higher limits, more timeframes, or Telegram alerts.
Run a scan
Choose symbols, select timeframes, and run a scan. Results are grouped by timeframe and session so you can review Context and Confirmation without mixing intraday sessions.
- Use higher timeframes for broader structure and intraday for finer-grained context.
- Watch the lifecycle state: Forming/Pending for Context, Active/Expired/Invalidated for Confirmation.
- Keep filters focused to reduce noise.
Scanner filters
Symbols
Comma-separated, case-insensitive tickers. Empty means all symbols. Example: AAPL, MSFT, NVDA.
Timeframes
15m, 30m, 1h, 2h, 4h, D, 2D, 1W, 2W, 1M, 3M, 12M. Empty means all timeframes.
Context stage
Forming means the context sequence is in progress. Pending means the current candle is the trigger candidate. The stage reflects the pattern sequence, not a fixed candle number.
Pattern
2-1-x, 1-1-x, 3-1-x, 1-2-x, 3-2-x, 3-3-x, Failed-2, Randy Jackson, Hammer / Shooter, Momo Hammer / Shooter. Context patterns typically end in -x, while confirmations end in -2 or use confirmed names. The 2-2 pattern includes reversal variants (2-2-rev) and appears in confirmations only.
Direction
Bull or Bear.
Category
Continuation, reversal, or breakout.
Session (intraday only)
ETH or RTH. Applies only to intraday timeframes.
FTFC filters
FTFC min is a numeric threshold. FTFC must include controls that let you choose which higher timeframes to require. The list includes up to the next five higher timeframes (when available) for the selected timeframe (up to 12M). For intraday scans, that can include 30m, 1h, 2h, and 4h before the daily and higher timeframes. For example, 1M only offers 3M and 12M, and 12M has no higher timeframes available. FTFC uses the close vs open of the latest higher-timeframe candle.
Scanner table columns
Symbol
The ticker symbol for the row.
TF (Timeframe)
The timeframe for the row (for example 15m, 1h, 1D, 1W) with Session tag (ETH / RTH) for intraday rows. Higher timeframes do not show a session.
State
Context states are Forming or Pending and indicate where the sequence is within the pattern. Confirmation states are Active, Expired, or Invalidated.
Pattern
The sequence label (for example 2-1-2 or 3-2-2).
Name
Human-readable STRAT pattern name.
Dir (Bull / Bear)
Directional label for the current structure.
Category
Continuation, reversal, or breakout classification.
Last 5 Candles
A descriptive sequence using STRAT notation: 1 = inside bar, 2u = directional up bar, 2d = directional down bar, 3 = outside bar. Candle coloring reflects bullish or bearish closes and provides context for the structure.
In Force (Confirmations)
Indicates whether price still satisfies the trigger condition for the confirmation. It is evaluated against the trigger reference level and can update using the latest price or the current candle close.
FTFC
Higher-timeframe continuity shown as per-timeframe checkmarks plus a count (for example D check, 2D check, 1W x, 2W check, 1M check, then 4/5). The list reflects the next five higher timeframes (when available) for the row. For 1M you will only see 3M and 12M; for 12M there are no FTFC rows.
Last candle timestamp
Timestamp of the most recent candle that generated the row.
